· Welcoming: The host started by playing the signature tune, welcoming the listeners, and introducing the topic by highlighting the previous program and giving some background on the day’s topic.

· Respectful: treated the guests respectfully, listened carefully to them, and showed respect to the listeners.

· Engaging: The program involved all the sources of information, including the primary source (the extension worker). Phone calls were used to cater to the listener so that they could ask questions and give out their comments.

· Moving: The listeners were touched when the farmers told the story of some of her failures and how she overcame them. One could feel what she felt during those hard times. This was also felt in the emotions of some callers.

· Diverse: The program used various formats. First, the program was a thirty-minute recorded program, where the farmer, the agricultural worker, the agricultural researcher, and the farmer were interviewed, and vox pops from the community members were used. Then, it was a live program where the extension worker and the farmer were guests at the program, and there were pre-recorded voices of cooperative farmers and the villagers from the community. Listeners were also involved through the phone-in.

· Stimulating: during the interviews, both live and recorded, listeners could draw a picture of the message being painted.

· Encouraging: the host appreciated the good work done by the farmers and the hard work and effort they put into their daily activities.

· Easy to understand: Simple local language that listeners could relate to was used to clarify some issues that some listeners could not understand.

· Of the moment: listening to the farmer tell the entire district her failures and successes and how she overcame them.

· Memorable: the sound of men and women on the field from the recorded interview. One could hear the sound of singing in the background during the entire interview. The sound of the tractor gave one the whole picture of what was happening out on the field.

· Fun: It was fun trading places with the farmers; spending just a day doing what they do every day was fun. A day before the program, the host was out on the field at Mrs. Thamae’s farm. It was great doing the farm work and experiencing what the farmers experience daily, even though the work is hectic. That’s how fun it was. HARD WORK!!!!!!!!!!
