Place and Date
The GFRAS Annual Meeting, originally scheduled for November 11-14, 2024, in Senegal, has been postponed to 2025 due to unforeseen circumstances in the host country. Senegal remains committed to hosting the event in 2025, with new dates and registration procedures to be announced in due time.
For 2024, GFRAS will organize a series of online events leading up to the 2025 face-to-face meeting. The program for these online events will be announced and updated on the GFRAS website.
Purpose and Context
The postponed meeting will continue to focus on “Agricultural Advisory Services in Higher Education and Agricultural Policies and Programs,” exploring the role of higher education in field-level agricultural advisory services and the institutionalization of these services. Themes will include teaching and learning, organizational structures, and policy development within agricultural advisory services.
Expected Outcomes
Participants will discuss strategies for academic programs, tools for organizational governance, and mechanisms for effective operation within agricultural advisory services. These discussions will shape future strategies and integration into agricultural policies.

ii. the partnership of Agricultural Advisory System structures
iii. effective operatives of Country Forums, and
iv. strategies for implementation and integration into plans, projects, and programs
NEWSFLASH
The 15th GFRAS Annual Meeting is scheduled for 11 to 13 November 2025 in Senegal. You will recall that the meeting was to happen in November last year but was postponed due to unforeseen circumstances.
According to the announcement in the GFRAS Update in February 2025, the meeting will continue to focus on the professionalization of advisory services, capacity building, and strengthening extension systems to serve farmers and rural communities better. It is unclear whether the theme “Agricultural Advisory Services in Higher Education and Agricultural Policies and Programs” remains unchanged. We are to stay tuned for more details.
